The Belgian EASI team was founded in November 2006. The team underscored the international EASI goals, being:

  1. Improvement of the communication between clinicians and laboratory medicine specialists

  2. Standardization of tests for autoantibody detection

  3. Harmonization of tests, algorithms and interpretation of results

The Belgian EASI team started on initiative of Prof. X. Bossuyt (Catholic University Leuven) and is set-up as a national collaboration between different laboratory medicine experts in the field of autoimmune diagnostics. The group is also working in close collaboration with the Expert Committee Non-infectious Serology of Sciensano (Clinical health | EQA clinical biology | sciensano.be) and the Royal Belgian Society of Reumatology (RBSR) (r-euma.be).
